The Cowshed Boutique Bunkhouse Location
The Cowshed is the beautiful village of Uig in the northern part of the Isle of Skye. It is a great base for exploring the island, and very convenient for the ferry terminal to reach the Outer Hebrides.
How to find us:
Follow the A87 to Portree. As you arrive into Portree the A87 turns off to the left, signposted to Uig. Follow this road for approximately 25 minutes. As you come around into the Uig Bay you will enter a 40mph zone, the Cowshed is the 2nd turning on the right after you have entered the 40mph zone and you will see out white Cowshed sign on the road at the bottom of our drive.
Citylink buses come to Uig from both Inverness and Glasgow. There is not an ‘official’ stop at the Cowshed, however if you speak to the driver well in advance they are usually happy to drop off at the end of our drive.
There are 2 local buses from Portree to Uig. The 57C is the quickest route, doing a clockwise route of the northern end of Skye. There is also the 57A which does and anticlockwise route meaning you get a scenic tour of the north end en route to us, or a convenient way to get here from the north east of the isle. Ask the driver to drop you at the end of our drive.
The Cowshed is very close to the ferry terminal, looking directly at it across the bay. To reach us you just follow the road around the bay, passing the Uig Hotel on your left – we are a few hundred metres past there on the left; you will see the Cowshed sign at the end of our drive. It is just a few minutes’ drive or approx. 45min walk. Taxis are often available, just ask in the Calmac office.
Please do contact us if you are in need of further directions.
